School is an institution for educating children and also the buildings used by such an institution. But actually a school is any institution at which instruction is given in a particular discipline. Sometimes people informally call university school. The origin of the word "school" goes back to the late Middle English: from Middle Low German, Middle Dutch schole, of West Germanic origin; related to Old English scolu "troop."
School is what everybody of us has to go through to get a basic education. People usually leave school and discontinue their education at 17-18. For some of us it is the best educational experience ever, for others school is a kind of a torture. And there are many factors that can make schooling the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do or say something, such as unprofessional and incompetent teachers, cruel classmates, unacceptable atmosphere in school, etc.
There is a number of different types of schools. Here are some of them: academy, library school, lycee, boarding school, cheder, choir school, nursery school, college, prep school, community college, private school, public school, seminary, technical school, vocational school, and a lot more.
